Market Update
Wondering how April is shaping up compared to March? We’ve got the numbers for you!
Kenosha
Racine
Milwaukee
Overall Thoughts:
As expected due to COVID-19, we’re seeing more homes on the market that aren’t getting accepted offers right away or as many sales as we saw in the previous month; due to precautions that buyers, sellers, and their agents are trying to take, as well as buyers trying to get approved during this time it’s become more difficult to try to figure out how to safely show homes to buyers and make sure that this is the home they want to buy, while keeping sellers’ safe. I wrote a piece talking about Matterport, a virtual tour tool a few weeks ago, and you can find that article here.
However, I thought it was very interesting to see the number of homes with accepted offers increased from March; Milwaukee County’s accepted offers doubled in April! Which tells us that even with everything going on right now, the spring market is still going strong (albeit, slower than usual.) It’ll be interesting to see what happens in May compared to April.
Going Local to Eat? Spotlight Reviews for Take Out!
While our state tries to take slow steps to try to reopen, I’ll be honest; cooking at home is wonderful, and way better on my wallet it’s just not the same as just going somewhere and grabbing a quick bite to eat. And since we’re all trying to help support local businesses in a time like this, I’ve listed a few places below of some super yummy food that’s currently offering carry out options! To try to keep this from turning into a novel, I picked one place for Kenosha, Racine, and Milwaukee-but that’s not to say that there isn’t more out there!
Milwaukee: AJ Bombers
If you want to talk about a good burger, look no further! With a location on Water Street, and having their burger options featured at Miller Park, AJ Bombers has something for everyone. I can’t say that I’ve ever gone to AJ Bomber’s and been able to sit down right away, there’s always a wait; but as they say, good things come to those who wait!
They have a collection of burgers, ranging from classic cheeseburgers to ‘other protein’ options, such as the beyond burger and chicken (fried or grilled!)-which you can sub any of the ‘other protein’ options if you’re not feeling beef.
But of course, it wouldn’t be on here just for some regular burgers-they also have more options such as the “Cheese on Cheese on Cheese” which boasts two different kinds of cheese, cheese curds, lettuce, tomato, chipotle ranch, and oh yeah-the burger patty! AJ Bombers also offers different kinds of sides-from tots, to sweet potato fries, to regular, you won’t be disappointed with whatever side you pick. It’s always a good time at AJ Bombers, but I bet it’d be even better at home!
Kenosha: Infusino’s
With the many places in Kenosha you can go for some good Italian food, Infusino’s is worth checking out if you haven’t yet already. With traditional dinner fares such as various pastas, house specials like Chicken Parmesan, and Steak and seafood to boot, you’re bound to find something that will quickly become a favorite!
Personally, I prefer their thin crust pizza (though, they offer different crust types) that are super thin and crunchy! (NY style pizza over Chicago style pizza. Every. Time.) They also offer calzones and pizza sticks if you don’t feel like committing to a full pie. So, if you’re looking for some good Italian food without wanting to cook it yourself, Infusino’s might be a good option for you!
Racine: Red Onion Café
And just to switch things up, it’s not take out without a breakfast choice! Don’t get me wrong, burgers, pizza, and leftover Italian all totally count as breakfast if you want them to. However, if you’re looking for more traditional breakfast fare without making a mess of your kitchen, there’s Red Onion Café!
Offering breakfast from 7am -11am and lunch from 11am- 2pm this little café has a lot to offer! If you’re looking for something lighter, they’ll have bakery options, oatmeal, and seasonal options for breakfast, with salads, grilled cheese, and BLTs.
If that’s not what you’re looking for, have no fear! They have over 16 choices for omelets, with hash browns, bacon, or sausage patties to go along side it! Red Onion cafe also offers various sandwiches (hot and cold), flatbreads, and pitas. I’ve tried their omelets, and they are tasty! When you don’t want to make breakfast, order it out instead!
And there we have it! A few options for the next time you decide to order take out.
